At the stroke of midnight on May 27, 2019, the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup competition came to a magnificent end.
This year, 4,706 villages participated in this historic movement to become water-abundant. Lakhs of villagers and over 1,00,000 city dwellers took on the role of warriors against drought, with pickaxes, shovels, hard work and hope as their weapons. Jalmitras like you helped raise Rs. 3 crore 32 lakh and enabled earth-moving machines to support 332 villages.
For decades, drought has been Maharashtra's biggest enemy. However, the citizens of the state have risen as powerful opponents. This undying spirit has yet again led to thousands of watershed structures being built on Maharashtra's soil - creating crores of litres of water storage capacity.

२७ मे या दिवशी मध्यरात्री १२ च्या ठोक्याला सत्यमेव जयते वॉटर कप २०१९ स्पर्धा मोठ्या जल्लोशात संपन्न झाली.
या दुष्काळ विरोधी ऐतिहासिक लढ्यामध्ये यंदा ४७०६ गावं सहभागी झाली. लाखो गावकरी आणि एक लाखाहून अधिक शहरवासीयांनी जलयोध्यांची भूमिका स्वीकारली. कुदळ फावड्यांना आपली शस्त्र बनवून खूप मेहनत केली. आपल्यासारख्या जलामित्रांनी ३ कोटी ३२ लाख रुपये इतकी रक्कम जमा करून ३३२ गावांना यंत्रांची मदत मिळवून दिली.
गेली कित्येक दशकं दुष्काळ हा महाराष्ट्राचा शत्रू राहिलेला आहे. पण आता महाराष्ट्रातील जनता एकत्र येऊन या दुष्काळा विरोधात उभी राहिली आहे. ही जिद्द अशीच जिवंत ठेऊन आणखीही कितीतरी जलसंधारणाची कामे करायची आहेत. कितीतरी कोटी लीटर पाणी साठवण्याची क्षमता निर्माण करायची आहे.
